The Coming Day of the Lord

Zechariah Sermon Series: Sermon 39

6-29-25 – Jerry Mongello

Bragging on God

Let’s exalt God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ together. Our purpose as His Church is to make much of Him.

On July 14, 2025, the U.S. destroyed Iran’s nuclear facilities. While many expected economic chaos, God turned things around:

  • Oil and gas prices dropped.
  • A cease-fire was reached between Iran and Israel.
  • The stock market went up.

This reflects God’s faithfulness to Genesis 12:3:

“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you.”

Scripture Reflection

Numbers 23:19 (NKJV)
“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent.
Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”

A Quote from Amir Tsarfati

“Despite being at war, Israel’s economy is strong. Unemployment is low, the stock market is at an all-time high, and the country is thriving. Because of God’s incredible blessing, Israel is flourishing during war.”

Prayer Requests

  • Martin’s upcoming treatment
  • Danny’s upcoming treatment
  • Peace in Israel and the return of all hostages

The Remnant Church

Thank you, church family, for allowing the preaching team to bring the whole counsel of God. Not all churches do. You are part of the remnant that longs to know the God of the Bible!

Acts 20:27 (NKJV)
“For I have not shunned to declare to you the whole counsel of God.”

Zechariah 14:2 — The Gathering of Nations

Zechariah 14:2 (NKJV)
“For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem…
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.”

Malachi 4: A Prophetic Reminder

“The day is coming, burning like an oven… But to you who fear My Name, the Sun of Righteousness will arise with healing in His wings.”
(See Malachi 4:1–6)

Preparing the Way – John the Baptist

  • Luke 1:67–80 – Zechariah prophesies over John
  • Isaiah 40:3–5 – A voice cries, “Prepare the way of the LORD”
  • John 1:24–25 – John is not Elijah, yet Jesus says:

Matthew 11:14
“If you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come.”

The Gospel Message of Repentance

Repentance is the doorway to salvation.

  • Romans 3:21–26 – Righteousness apart from the law
  • Acts 2:38 – “Repent and be baptized…”
  • Ezekiel 14:6 & 18:30 – Turn from idols and transgressions

The Abomination of Desolation & Petra

Matthew 24:15–16
“When you see the abomination of desolation… let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”

Just as God preserved Israel in the wilderness for 40 years, He will again protect His remnant — possibly in Petra, also called Bozrah.

Supporting Scriptures:

  1. Daniel 11:41–42 – Jordan (Edom, Moab, Ammon) escapes Antichrist control
  2. Revelation 12:6, 14 – The woman (Israel) is nourished in the wilderness for 3.5 years
  3. Isaiah 63:1–6 – The Lord comes from Bozrah in wrath and redemption

The Woman in Revelation 12

A woman clothed with the sun… gives birth to a male Child who is caught up to God.
She flees into the wilderness for 1,260 days. (See Revelation 12:1–17)

Micah and Revelation: The King Leads the Remnant

Micah 2:12–13 – The Lord gathers and leads His flock
Revelation 19:11–21 – Jesus returns on a white horse, defeats the beast, and establishes His rule

Final Thoughts

Zechariah 14 gives us a glimpse of what’s to come:

  • God fights for Jerusalem.
  • Jesus returns to rule and reign.
  • The call to repentance is urgent.
  • God is faithful. His Word is true. His promises will prevail.

Stay in the Word. Keep watching. Be ready.
