Invite your friends and family!
After the message, I will invite anyone who needs prayer from the congregation.
Israel’s Accusation of Egypt:
Israel accuses Egypt of troop and military buildup in the Sinai, which violates the 1979 Camp David Accords. Egypt denies the claims.
Prayer
We conclude chapter 11 with the introduction of the Anti-Christ. These events prophesy Israel’s rejection of Jesus Christ and the acceptance of the evil shepherd (Anti-Christ) predicted in Zechariah 11.
Chapters 12, 13, and 14 focus on the redemption of Israel, the judgment of the nations, and the second coming of Christ. Chapter 12 begins with God authenticating His prophetic word by declaring that He is omnipotent, with infinite almighty power, and omniscient, possessing complete, unlimited knowledge and understanding. In verse one, Zechariah reminds his audience of God’s authority and ability to accomplish what He predicted in this oracle. God is the master over all things celestial, terrestrial, and human.
The phrase “IN THAT DAY” is used 17 times in these chapters and 110 times throughout the Bible.
Zechariah 12:1 (NKJV):
“The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel. Thus says the LORD, who stretches out the heavens, lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him:”
Isaiah 42:5 (NKJV):
“Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it.”
This is the same word used in Zechariah 12:1, rûaḥ (roo’-akh), which means the wind of heaven, breath of air, Spirit of God, and courage.
Isaiah 44:24-28 (NKJV):
“Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, And He who formed you from the womb: ‘I am the LORD, who makes all things, Who stretches out the heavens all alone, Who spreads abroad the earth by Myself;…'”
Zechariah 12:2-3 (NKJV):
“Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall happen in that day that I will make Jerusalem a very heavy stone for all peoples; all who would heave it away will surely be cut in pieces, though all nations of the earth are gathered against it.”
Jerusalem will become an immovable rock for all nations. All who attempt to move it will injure themselves, indicating divine protection over Jerusalem. In chapter 11, Zechariah breaks the staff called Beauty, symbolizing God removing His hand of protection or covenant with the people for rejecting the Messiah.
Genesis 12:2-3 (NKJV):
“I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Isaiah 51:1-23 (NKJV):
“Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, You who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, And to the hole of the pit from which you were dug…”
The LORD will comfort Zion, and His salvation will be forever.
Zechariah 12:4 (NKJV):
“In that day,” says the LORD, “I will strike every horse with confusion, and its rider with madness; I will open My eyes on the house of Judah, and will strike every horse of the peoples with blindness.”
Prophets often see horses in end-time battles, and though we may think they are referring to modern-day military equipment, this language is symbolic. For instance, the Russian army has resorted to using horses and donkeys in the battlefield to evade modern drone technology.
Isaiah 63:1-4 (NKJV):
“Who is this who comes from Edom, With dyed garments from Bozrah, This One who is glorious in His apparel, Traveling in the greatness of His strength?”
This foreshadows Christ’s return in judgment.
Revelation 14:9-10 (NKJV):
“If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God…”
Zechariah 12:5 (NKJV):
“And the governors of Judah shall say in their heart, ‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are my strength in the LORD of hosts, their God.'”
