Key Verse: Behold the Lamb of God

John 1:29 (NKJV)
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”

This declaration identifies Jesus as the ultimate sacrificial Lamb—ordained before the foundation of the world.

The Prophetic Requirements of the Lamb

Jesus did not randomly arrive at the cross—He fulfilled a precise prophetic timeline established in Scripture.

The sacrificial system in Exodus foreshadowed Him:

Exodus 12:3-6 – The lamb was selected on the 10th day of Nisan and examined until the 14th day.

This required a period of inspection—four days of testing to confirm the lamb was without blemish.

Jesus entered Jerusalem on the exact prophetic timeline of Passover preparation.

Prophecy of the Triumphal Entry

Zechariah 9:9 declared that the Messiah would enter Jerusalem:

“Lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

This was fulfilled in John 12:12-19 when Jesus entered Jerusalem as King.

Daniel’s Prophetic Timeline

Daniel 9:24-27 reveals the timeline of Messiah the Prince.

From the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Nehemiah 2:1-6), 69 prophetic weeks (483 years) point directly to the arrival of Jesus in Jerusalem.

This is one of the most precise fulfilled prophecies in Scripture history.

The Messiah Enters the Temple

Malachi 3:1 prophesied:

“The Lord… will suddenly come to His temple.”

Jesus fulfilled this when He entered the temple and cleansed it:

Matthew 21:12-13 – Jesus drives out the money changers.

This act symbolized purification before Passover.

The Four-Day Examination of Jesus

From Palm Sunday to His crucifixion, Jesus was “examined”:

  • Questioned by religious leaders (Matthew 21–22)
  • Tested by Pharisees and Sadducees
  • Watched by crowds and authorities
  • Declared innocent repeatedly

He fulfilled the requirement of the Passover Lamb: without blemish.

The Grain of Wheat: Death Brings Life

John 12:24

“Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”

Jesus reveals the meaning of His death—life would come through His sacrifice.

The Father Bears Witness

John 12:28

A voice from heaven declared:

“I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

This confirmed divine approval of Jesus as the Messiah.

The Rejected Stone Becomes the Cornerstone

Matthew 21:42

“The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.”

Though rejected by men, Jesus is chosen by God.

The Greatest Commandments

Matthew 22:37-40

Love God fully and love your neighbor—this fulfills the Law and the Prophets.

The Lamb Worthy of Worship

Revelation 5:12

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom…”

Heaven itself declares Jesus worthy because He fulfilled every prophecy and paid the price for sin.

Conclusion

The trial of Jesus was not a failure—it was fulfillment.

Every prophecy, every requirement, every detail points to one truth:

Jesus is the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.

John 20:31 – These are written so that you may believe.
